Plotting the perfect Portsmouth hen party? For the ultimate in hen party fun with a serious helping of sea, surf and (sometimes) sun, this is great city to really let your hair down.

If you are a hen party that craves culture, fun activities, some shopping and plenty of partying afterwards then Portsmouth should tick all your boxes. A great way to get an overview of the city is to take a guided walk around Portsmouth. Culture vultures have plenty to keep then entertained. Portsmouth has had a host of famous authors choosing to live in the city at one time or another in their lives. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is said to have invented the character of Sherlock Holmes here, and you can visit the Richard Lancelyn Green Conan Doyle Collection, a stunning collection of books and memorabilia associated with the author and his fictional detective. Others famous authors who have lived or stayed in Portsmouth include Charles Dickens, Rudyard Kipling and H G Wells. Current authors such Graham Hurley and Betty Burton call the city their home and have carried on the city’s strong literary association. Shoppers can make the most of shopping at the Gunwharf Quays where you can shop in the discount retail outlets and take advantage of the programme of events that run year-round in this location.

Portsmouth offers a range of entertainment suitable for hen parties of any taste with a host of theatres, live music venues such as the Cellars at Eastney and the Wedgewood Rooms. Comedy fans can giggle or heckle at comedians at The Cellars. For a tipple or two (or three…) you have plenty to choose from in Portsmouth. The cocktail crowd can head to Tiger Tiger or Roast Bar. For a quirky bar experience, taking a trip to the Kraken Wakes is a good bet, where you can see live acts, join in the pub quiz, or take part in sketching sessions. Clubbers have a choice of awesome venues in the city with Liquid & Envy being a prime spot for dancing the night away and Flares being a fun night out regardless of your budget!
