Nottingham Hen Party Ideas
If you’re plotting a fabulous hen weekend, Nottingham is a brilliant destination. There’s more to Nottingham than just Robin Hood – so take your band of merry hen party ladies through Sherwood Forest and party with style!
History
Nottingham is synonymous with Robin Hood, so for fans of the legendary hero there are plenty of attractions dedicated to the folk hero to keep you busy. The city boasts its annual Robin Hood Festival (a must-do for the die-hard fans), a Robin Hood Beer Festival and the Robin Hood trail that will let you walk in the legend’s steps. Fans will have to put the Church of St Mary on their Robin Hood itinerary. The Church built in 1175 is, according to legend, the place where Robin Hood and Maid Marian wed. Not only does Nottingham boast the legend of Robin Hood, but the Pilgrim Fathers also hail from the area. You can take the Mayflower Trail and follow in their steps before they embarked on their trip to the New World.
Culture
Lovers of DH Lawrence, Alan Sillitoe and Lord Byron will be able to walk the streets these literary legends loved. Byron lovers should pay homage to the great man at the St Mary Magdalene Church where he is entombed.
Action
Torvill and Dean fans can stand proud in the city too, as the ice-skating legends were born and raised here, and you can even attempt your own Bolero in the £43 million National Ice Centre. Nottingham is a great location for a hen party that likes to spend the day thrill-seeking in adventure theme parks – around the Nottingham area you can find the The Wheelgate Adventure Park, Twinlakes Theme Park and Alton Towers.
Partying
For a more adult end to your Nottingham hen party, you can’t go wrong sampling the legendary nightlife. With over 300 restaurants in the city centre, you are spoilt for choice; Carluccio’s is a great place for Italian food lovers; French food fans can sample some beautiful cuisine at Le Bistrot Pierre; and, to have a dinner with a difference why not try a riverboat dinner cruise on the Nottingham Princess? To carry on down the history trail you might want to start your evening off in Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, reputed to be England’s oldest pub, which dates back to 1189, and then head to the twelfth century Bell Inn in the Market Square. Those hen parties who are experienced ale drinkers should consider going on Nottingham’s Real Ale Trail, where you can sup your way through drinks in 14 different recommended locations throughout the city. The stylish cocktail crowd should make a beeline for Chapel Bar, the Lace Market and Low Pavement.

Charlotte D, for burlesque hen party BournemouthI just wanted to let you know that we had a fantastic time at the burlesque hen party in Bournemouth on Saturday.
I could not rate Charm School more highly. From the initial planning stages to the actual class, Jane (I can’t remember your burlesque name – sorry!) was helpful and professional at every stage. Our class was in Bournemouth taught by the amazing Miss Coco Cleopatra. She was fun, explained all the moves and background to burlesque and put everyone at ease so that even the more reserved ladies were tassel twirling like best of them by the end of the class. Not only did the bride love it but the best part was that we could take the moves we learned and try them out in the clubs later that night – the people of Bournemouth didn’t know what hit them! If you want a hen weekend activity that will guarantee plenty of laughs make you feel fabulous and glamorous during and after the class, choose Charm School burlesque – we could not have picked a better activity.
Please pass on my thanks to Miss Coco Cleopatra for making it such a class to remember.
