Dundee Hen Party Ideas

Organising an unforgettable hen party? Dundee is a brilliant city where you and your ladies can let your hair down in style! Situated in a beautiful position where the River Tay meets the North Sea and, with loads of places to eat, drink and dance, local attractions and breath-taking scenery close by, Dundee is a great place for your hen weekend.

The city centre offers a mix of high street and designer shopping with The Overgate and Wellgate shopping centres, and the city has no shortage of gorgeous independent shops – check out Ozzy’s and Arkive, Missy La La’s, Groucho’s and Mona Lisa. Your hen party might like to head to Dundee’s Cultural Quarter (also the student quarter), where you’ll find antique jewellery shops, designer boutiques and some chic cocktail bars. For theatre fans, this part of town is also home to Dundee Rep Theatre, Scotland’s only full-time resident actors’ company and Scottish Dance Theatre, Scotland’s principal contemporary dance company.

Dundee isn’t short of tourist attractions. The city’s 5-star visitor attraction is Discovery Point and the RRS Discovery, where you can climb aboard and experience life in the Antarctic with Captain Scott and his crew. Verdant Works will transport you back to an era when Dundee was famous for its manufacture of jute – the museum tell the story of the wealthy Jute Barons and their mill workers who worked in treacherous conditions. The McManus is Dundee’s museum and art gallery, and the Gothic Revival-style building is home to one of Scotland’s most impressive collections of fine and decorative art.

If you fancy some fresh air after all that shopping and culture, the nearby coastal town of Broughty Ferry, originally home to Dundee’s Jute Barons, gives you gorgeous beach walks with views across the Tay Estuary. It’s a great place to wander the afternoon away before enjoying a drink in a charming ‘olde worlde’ inn, or an ice-cream from Visocchi’s. For those hen parties that have a head for heights, no trip to Dundee is complete without a visit to the top of Dundee Law, an extinct volcano. The highest point of the city, you’ll be rewarded with sensational views.

After dark, you’ll find atmospheric pubs, live music, bars, and, if you want to show off your new moves after your Charm School session, you can dance the night away in Fat Sam’s or Liquid.
